TENS

transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation: a procedure in which mild electrical pulses are delivered through small electrodes attached to the skin. TENS is most commonly used to relieve or reduce chronic pain: The pulses stimulate nerves that supply the region in which the pain is felt and thus inhibit transmission of pain signals.

fatigue effect

a decline in performance on a prolonged or demanding research task that is generally attributed to the participant becoming tired or bored with the task. The fatigue effect is an important consideration when administering a lengthy survey or test in which participants’ performance may worsen simply due to the challenges of an extended task.
