t ratio

the formula used for the t test, in which the numerator is the difference between the means of the two groups of interest and the denominator is a measure of the dispersion of the scores used to compute the means. The t value so obtained is compared to a t distribution table to determine if the difference between the means is significant or likely to have been a chance finding.
