succinimide

n. any of a group of chemically related drugs that are effective in the treatment of absence seizures. Discovered in a search for an antidote for drug-induced convulsions, they produce a sedative effect and may cause behavioral changes. Ethosuximide is an example of a succinimide and is sold in the United States under the trade name Zarontin.
