social neuroscience

a discipline that aims to integrate the social and biological approaches to human behavior that have often been seen as mutually exclusive. Social neuroscientists use a range of methodologies to elucidate the brain structures that regulate social behavior as well as the reciprocal interactions of the brain’s biological mechanisms (especially the nervous, immune, and endocrine systems) with the social and cultural contexts in which human beings operate.
