social competence program

a type of intervention that seeks to foster positive relationships and enhance identity and self-concept. Often implemented in preschool and elementary school classrooms, social competence programs generally include video sequences and vignettes, interactive exercises, self-assessments, and other activities intended to improve participants’ awareness of their feelings as well as their abilities in communication, self-control, conflict resolution, and problem solving.
