Smalltalk

n. one of the first object-oriented computer languages, designed at Xerox in the 1970s. The name was chosen because the language was designed to be a communication medium for children. Window systems and mouse-driven control eventually emerged from this early research project.

1. a reduction in variation in genetic traits that can occur when sampling from continually smaller groups, such that some traits ultimately become excluded from possibility.
