shape constancy

a type of perceptual constancy in which an object is perceived as having the same shape when viewed at different angles. For example, a plate is still perceived as circular despite appearing as an oval when viewed from the side.

automatic reinforcer

a physical or sensory consequence of a behavior that serves to reinforce the behavior, without the influence of another individual. An example is a person continuing to read a book because he or she enjoys it.
