serial anticipation method

a technique that involves learning to associate a stimulus (e.g., an item in a list or series) with a stimulus or response that follows (e.g., the next item in the list or series), so that when subsequently given the stimulus, one can produce the response or recall the next item in the series. This method is frequently used in paired-associates learning and serial recall. Also called anticipation method; anticipation learning method.
