salicylism

n. poisoning with salicylates, the most common form of which is due to overdosage of aspirin. Symptoms of mild salicylism include tinnitus, confusion, headache, nausea, and vomiting. More severe forms of salicylism are characterized by severe acidosis, hemorrhage, and changes in mental status that may lead to convulsions, coma, and death.
