routinized behavior

a behavior that has been so well learned and frequently repeated that it no longer takes conscious control to execute (e.g., walking). Elite athletes, for example, routinize the execution of basic skills so that they have greater capacity to attend to other aspects of their sport. Also called automatic performance.
