risk sensitivity

the ability of an organism to choose an environment where the availability of resources over time is stable. Individuals that do not show risk sensitivity choose environments with high variances in the stability of resources. If resources are good, these individuals and their offspring thrive; if resources are poor, they fare less well than risk-sensitive individuals.
