Rinne test

a tuning-fork test used to aid in differentiating between conductive and sensorineural hearing loss. The sensation produced by the tuning fork when presented via air conduction is compared to that produced by placing the tuning fork against the mastoid process of the temporal bone. [Friedrich Heinrich A. Rinne (1819–1868), German otologist]
