rete mirabile

a network of blood vessels that is derived from a nearby artery or vein, such as the web of small arterial vessels in the kidney glomeruli or of small veins in the liver. A cranial rete mirabile is found in the brains of certain domestic animals but does not occur normally in humans.

Schröder staircase
