respondent behavior

behavior that is evoked by a specific stimulus and that will consistently and predictably occur if the stimulus is presented. Also called elicited behavior. See also reflex. Compare emitted behavior.

confusion effect

an antipredator behavior in which each of several animals moves or vocalizes in a highly random way, making it difficult for predators to locate and attack any one individual. See also dilution effect.
