representative design
an experimental design that includes processes and variables that might be found outside the laboratory setting. In representative designs, the participants, situations, constructs, and assessments are sampled in a way that permits generalization beyond the specific research setting, and background variables are intentionally not controlled so that research results will apply more realistically to the real world.
