repetition blindness

in rapid sequential visual presentation, the tendency for individuals to fail to notice a target stimulus when it is repeated. For example, when presented with the sequence of letters bcebd, they are less likely to notice the second b than to notice c, e, or d. See also change blindness; inattentional blindness.
