repeated factor

an independent variable for which multiple scores are recorded for an individual research participant. For example, in a study examining political attitudes a researcher may collect approval ratings for a candidate at four time points before the election. Thus, the variable of candidate approval would be a repeated factor having four levels corresponding to the four different points at which ratings were obtained. See also within-subjects design.
