remitted-disorder study

an empirical investigation of patients whose condition is in remission. Because the trajectories of certain pathologies (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, chronic pain, cancer) include periods of relapse and abatement, researchers seek to identify the conditions under which each occurs so as to predict these transitions more accurately and develop better treatments.
