relative frequency

the frequency of a type or category of event expressed as a proportion of the total frequency of all types or categories. For example, if 47 out of 100 participants answered yes to a particular question on a survey, the relative frequency of yes responses would equal .47 (i.e., the number of yes responses divided by the total number of yes, no, and I don’t know responses).
