reflectance

n. the ratio of the intensity of light reflected from a surface (reflected flux) to the intensity of light shining on a surface (incident flux). The reflectance spectrum of a surface describes the percentage of reflected photons at each wavelength in the visible spectrum.

phentolamine

n. an alpha-adrenergic blocking agent with direct action on heart and smooth muscle. It is a potent vasodilator used in the management of severe hypertension associated with catecholamine excess, as in patients with pheochromocytomas. It is in infrequent clinical use. U.S. trade name: Regitine.
