quality circle

a form of participative management in which a small group of employees are given the task of improving the quality and reducing the costs of the goods or services produced in their jobs and resolving any other production and productivity problems. Employees in a quality circle are typically given autonomy in how they approach this task and may be trained in statistical process control. See also Scanlon plan.
