psychogenic nocturnal polydipsia

excessive nighttime thirst with a psychological rather than physiological or physical basis. It is most often seen in patients with schizophrenia and is recognized as a dangerous and potentially life-threatening disorder, because chronic overconsumption of substantial amounts of water can fatally damage the body’s fluid balance.
