n.1. chest pain that resembles the pain (angina pectoris) of a heart attack but for which there is no clinical evidence of heart disease. 2. chest pain that resembles angina pectoris but originates from damage to the spinal roots in the neck (cervical) region. Compression of the root of the seventh cervical nerve by a prolapsed intervertebral disk (see slipped disk) is commonly identified as the cause. Also called cervical angina. See noncardiac chest pain.
