promethazine

n. a phenothiazine used for the treatment of nausea, motion sickness, and allergies and as a sedative. Its mechanism of action includes blockade of H₁ histamine receptors and of dopamine receptors in the mesolimbic system. U.S. trade name: Phenergan.
