n. a member of the Primates, an order of mammals that includes the lemurs, monkeys, apes, and humans. Characteristics of the order include an opposable thumb (i.e., a thumb capable of touching the other four digits on the same hand), a relatively large brain, and binocular vision. The young are usually born singly and mature over an extended period.
