predictive value

1. the ability of a test or scale to correctly classify items into mutually exclusive categories or states. Predictive value often is determined using decision theory methods, such as receiver-operating characteristic curves.

2. the percentage of times that the obtained value on a given test is the true value. Also called predictive power.
