precuneus

n. an area on the medial (inner) surface of the parietal lobe of each cerebral hemisphere in the brain. Located between the parieto-occipital sulcus and the cingulate sulcus, it is involved in a variety of cognitive functions. Immediately behind the precuneus is the wedge-shaped cuneus. —precuneate adj.
