Poisson regression

an analytic model that has as its dependent variable a count variable and any of a number of predictor variables; in other words, it is used when the outcome variable has a Poisson distribution. For example, a researcher may hypothesize that dyadic adjustment, number of years as a couple, and personality characteristics predict the number of times that one member of a couple interrupts the other during a problem-solving task. [Siméon D. Poisson]
