peduncular hallucinosis
recurrent visual hallucinations caused by pathological processes in the upper brainstem, which indirectly affect the central visual system. The hallucinations are usually recognized as such by the patient, and they may be long-lasting, vivid, and scenic, involving a panorama of people and events from the patient’s past life. They are often accompanied by agitation and sleep disturbances and may be mixed with nonhallucinatory perceptions.
