n. the “life energy” and creative force in nature that was believed by Austrian psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich (1897–1957) to pervade the universe. According to Reich, orgone was emitted by energy vesicles called “bions,” which he claimed to find in organic material. He also posited that it related to cosmic radiation and speculated that it might be responsible for the origin of life from earth and water (biogenesis), as well as the formation of weather patterns and the sexual potency of human beings.
