1. a family of jobs that involve the performance of similar tasks and have similar requirements in terms of skills, training, and personal attributes. For example, accounting jobs in different organizations will differ to some extent in the tasks performed and level of skill required, but there is enough commonality to place them in the same occupation. See also profession.
