neural arc

the pathway followed by nerve impulses from a receptor to an effector. In a reflex arc, a sensory neuron (or bundle of neurons) is connected either directly or via one or more interneurons to one or more motor neurons; in more complex behaviors, the pathways are longer and the connections are more complicated.
