narcotherapy

n. psychotherapy conducted while the patient is in a semiconscious state induced by narcotic drugs, such as amobarbital (Amytal) or thiopental. For example, narcotherapy was used with individuals experiencing combat stress reactions during and after World War II. See also narcoanalysis; narcosynthesis.
