the idea that intelligence is made up of eight distinct categories: linguistic, musical, bodily-kinesthetic, logical-mathematical, spatial, naturalist, intrapersonal, and interpersonal. [proposed in 1983 by U.S. psychologist Howard Gardner (1943– )]
