multinomial distribution

multinomial distribution

a probability distribution that describes the theoretical distribution of n objects sampled at random from a population of k kinds of things with regard to the number of each of the kinds that appears in the sample. By contrast, a binomial distribution involves just two variables, categories, or objects.
