multimethod approach

a design that uses more than one procedure for measuring the main characteristic or construct of interest. For example, a researcher could use a multimethod approach to understanding relationship satisfaction by simultaneously collecting data from a survey, asking one or both of the partners to give their own self-report, and systematically observing the degree of relationship satisfaction.
