modal model of memory

a generic theory of memory incorporating assumptions common to most models. The modal model includes a short-term memory and a long-term memory and provides details on how information is encoded and later retrieved from memory. See also dual-store model of memory; multistore model of memory.

consistency of results across samples, study designs, and analyses. A meta-analysis may be used to examine the stability of means, correlations, and other parameter estimates obtained from different studies of the same population. See also stability coefficient.
