method of constant stimuli

a psychophysical procedure for determining the sensory threshold by randomly presenting several stimuli known to be close to the threshold. The threshold is the stimulus value that was detected 50% of the time. Also called constant stimulus method; method of right and wrong cases. See also method of limits.
