n.

1. the study of purported mental phenomena and abilities that are beyond the limits of orthodox psychological understanding, such as telepathy and the survival of the human psyche after death. The term has now generally been superseded by parapsychology.

2. people who are or appear to be exceptionally gifted in one or more paranormal abilities. See psychic.
