mercury switch

an on–off interface between a device and the user that comprises a glass tube containing mercury with electrodes at one end. It can be attached to the hand, wrist, arm, or other body part of users with severe upper extremity disabilities and is activated by slight body movements that tilt it from a neutral position.

behavior mapping

a technique of studying the activities of individuals within a space by noting what happens where. The degree of variability of behavior, as well as its association with certain types of environmental features, is a useful starting point to build or test hypotheses about, for example, architectural design.
