medial geniculate nucleus

either of a pair of nuclei in the thalamus, toward the middle of the lateral geniculate nucleus, that receive, process, and relay auditory information. Each receives input from the inferior colliculus and sends output to the auditory cortex. Also called medial geniculate body.

work group

any group of people whose primary objective is to perform a set of assigned tasks. The degree to which this collection becomes a cohesive unit with a distinct identity determines whether a work group becomes a team. See also action group; task-oriented group.
