medial forebrain bundle

medial forebrain bundle

a collection of nerve fibers passing through the midline of the forebrain to the hypothalamus. It includes tracts originating in the locus ceruleus, substantia nigra, and ventral tegmental area and provides the chief pathway for reciprocal connections between the hypothalamus and the biogenic amine systems of the brainstem.
