Marinesco–Sjögren syndrome
an autosomal recessive hereditary disorder marked by cataracts, short stature, cerebellar ataxia (incoordination of voluntary movements), and mild to moderate intellectual disability. Affected individuals may live well past middle age but often lose their ability to walk because of progressive muscle weakness. [reported in the 1930s by Georges Marinesco (1864–1938), Romanian neurologist, and Torsten Sjögren (1896–1974), Swedish physician]
