a tendency for leaders to overstep the bounds of their authority when they feel they have the overwhelming support of the group. As the number of people favoring a particular person for leadership increases, that leader is less likely to anticipate criticism for his or her actions, is less concerned about dissenting others, and may even attach invulnerability to his or her decisions.
