logogen
n. a theoretical memory unit corresponding to a word, letter, or digit, which, when excited, results in the output (recognition) of the unit and recall of characteristics and information associated with that unit. For example, the logogen for table is activated by hearing the component sounds or seeing the typographical features of the word, bringing to mind such knowledge as the typical structure and shape of a table and its general function.
