log-linear analysis

a method of examining relationships between two or more categorical variables that involves an analysis of the natural logarithms of frequency counts within a contingency table. Log-linear analyses do not distinguish between independent variables and dependent variables but rather attempt to model all significant associations among all variables, including interactions between any combination of the variables, using sets of odds and odds ratios for different category outcomes. Also called log-linear modeling.
