iris coloboma

iris coloboma

a congenital defect of the iris that shows as a cleft or fissure (coloboma) extending outward from the edge of the pupil. A coloboma usually occurs in the lower portion of the iris. The defect may be one of several signs of a chromosomal anomaly.
