interpolated task

an activity that is presented between two experimental tasks to fill time or to disguise the connection between the two critical tasks. For instance, an interpolated arithmetic task might be given between the study phase and test phase of a memory experiment. See also interference.

negative recency

negative recency

in recalling a list of items, the tendency to recall fewer of the final items of the list than the middle and early items. Negative recency contrasts with the enhanced recall of final items seen in the recency effect. Also called negative recency effect
