internal object

an image or representation of a person (particularly someone significant to the individual, such as a parent) that is experienced as an internalized “presence” within the mind. In her development of object relations theory, Melanie Klein saw the psyche as being made up of internal objects whose relations to each other and to the individual determine his or her personality and symptoms. the cerebral cortex of the frontal lobe. It is associated with decision making, planning, insight, judgment, the ability to concentrate, and impulse control. See also prefrontal cortex.
