inhalant intoxication
in DSM–IV–TR and DSM–5, a reversible syndrome resulting from the recent ingestion of inhalants. It includes clinically significant behavioral or psychological changes (e.g., confusion, belligerence, assaultiveness, apathy, impaired judgment, impaired social or occupational functioning), as well as one or more signs of physiological involvement (e.g., dizziness, visual disturbances, involuntary eye movements, incoordination, slurred speech, unsteady gait, tremor). At higher doses, lethargy, psychomotor retardation, generalized muscle weakness, depressed reflexes, stupor, or coma may develop. See also substance intoxication.
